While you might be planning your summer holidays, over in the land of Hackneydale thoughts have already turned to snowier times as Hackney Empire announces its 2015 panto offering will be Jack And The Beanstalk.
Jack And The Beanstalk will play at the East London theatre famous for its sweet-throwing, thigh slapping, puntastic annual festive offerings from 21 November to 3 January following 2014’s hugely successful Mother Goose.
Set in the kingdom of Hackneydale – head down from Islingtonland, make a right at Dalstonville and you can’t miss it – this Christmas’ brilliantly silly show will follow the story of young Jack who is tempted by a mysterious stranger into swapping the family’s trusty old cow for a handful of magic beans. An offer surely happy-go-lucky Jack can’t refuse?
Reuniting regular Hackney panto collaborators, writer and director Susie McKenna and composer Steven Edis, Jack And The Beanstalk promises another year of show stopping tunes, outrageous costumes, boo-garnering baddies and wondrous goodies.
Panto queen McKenna commented: “We are a family here at Hackney Empire and so to welcome Clive Rowe and Sharon D Clarke back into the fold in 2014 with Mother Goose as Hackney’s bestselling pantomime ever was incredible. It has been an amazing 17 years of Hackney pantomimes and I can’t wait to get started on the next one. Jack And The Beanstalk is one of the best and oldest rags to riches tales and we’re already busy relocating it to Hackneydale.”
Casting will be announced later this year.
