Grab a bargain with Get Into London Theatre

First Published 6 December 2010, Last Updated 7 December 2010

Booking opens today for the 10th annual Get Into London Theatre, the ticket promotion organised by the Society of London Theatre which offers fantastic ticket deals to over 50 top London shows.

This year’s Get Into London Theatre runs from 1 January to 18 February, during which time some 54 shows across musicals, drama, opera, dance and entertainment are offering tickets at £10 to £35. They include hit musicals Wicked and Jersey Boys, hot new play Clybourne Park and English National Ballet’s Romeo And Juliet.

For the first time ever, many of those shows are also offering free activities and workshops to accompany your theatregoing experience. Backstage tours, music and dance activities and Q&A sessions are among the events on offer, including the chance to find out how the cast of The 39 Steps stage the chase on the Flying Scotsman, go behind the scenes at the Old Vic or learn the choreography to Chicago. Activities are open to those holding tickets for a performance on the same day.

Emma De Souza, Development Manager at the Society of London Theatre said: “We are delighted to be celebrating the 10th birthday of Get Into London Theatre. Over the years we have enjoyed huge support and goodwill from the industry, and this has enabled us to offer this year – for the first time ever – workshops linked to West End shows. It’s Kids Week for grown-ups!”

Mayor of London Boris Johnson commented: “Hats off to the Society of London Theatre. As well as the packed onstage line up, they’ve added an exciting programme of activities and events. Get Into London Theatre means you can bag a bargain at a time when people are watching their pennies and is a delightful fillip for the chilly first months of the year. It’s a fabulous opportunity to discover why our theatre industry is the envy of the world.”
