Globe celebrates Sam’s Day

First Published 9 June 2010, Last Updated 9 June 2010

Shakespeare’s Globe will celebrate the birthday of its founder, Sam Wanamaker, with a day of workshops and activities on Saturday 12 June.

Sam’s Day, which is free to attend, includes several family-friendly events led by Globe professionals. Storyteller Saul Jaffe will share magical stories inspired by Macbeth, King Lear and other Shakespeare characters in a session entitled Family Tales: Monarchs, Magic & Mayhem. Introducing Macbeth: Family Workshop is a practical introduction to the play for all the family, led by a Globe Education practitioner.

Other sessions include workshops exploring text, movement and voice, a talk about Macbeth on film and a post-show discussion with members of the cast of Henry IV Part 1, which is currently playing at the Globe.

Activities are repeated throughout the day. All events are free and bookable from 09:00 on the day. For more information visit the Shakespeare’s Globe website.
