Book Of Mormon gets new leads

First Published 14 July 2014, Last Updated 14 July 2014

The hit West End production of The Book Of Mormon will say hello to two new cast members on 28 July when US stars Billy Harrigan Tighe and A J Holmes take on the lead roles in the musical.

Harrigan Tighe, whose credits include Pippin on Broadway and the US tour of Wicked, will play Elder Price in the Olivier Award-winning show alongside Holmes as Elder Cunningham, a role the actor knows well having played it in all three North American companies of The Book Of Mormon.

The duo will replace current cast members Jared Gertner and Gavin Creel, who have been in the cast since the musical’s West End premiere in March 2013. The latter also took home the Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Musical at this year’s ceremony for his performance in the controversial musical.

Newcomers Harrigan Tighe and Holmes will join current cast members including Alexia Khadime, Stephen Ashfield, Kevin Harvey, Hugo Harold Harrison, Chris Jarman, Mark Anderson, Benjamin Brook, Daniel Clift and Christopher Copeland, all of whom continue in their roles.

The four-time Olivier Award-winning musical, which features a book, music and lyrics by South Park’s Trey Parker and Matt Stone alongside Avenue Q co-creator Robert Lopez, is set in a small town in Uganda and tells the story of two young Mormon missionaries who are bringing the news of the Latter Day saints to local villagers.

Featuring hits including Hello, Spooky Mormon Hell Dream, I Believe and Man Up, The Book Of Mormon is currently booking at the Prince of Wales Theatre until 18 October 2014.
