Powerful, wealthy and surrounded by a loving family, Leontes should be content. Instead he is ill at ease with the world around him. Isolated by a destructive jealousy, he lashes out at his family, losing his wife and son and abandoning his daughter in distant Bohemia. 16 years later, having grown up in a pastoral idyll, Leontes’s daughter falls in love with a young visitor, setting in motion a chain of events that could eventually reunite their scattered family.

This Royal Shakespeare Company production of The Winter’s Tale is directed by David Farr and stars Greg Hicks as Leontes.

The Winter’s Tale is presented at the Roundhouse as part of an RSC season which also includes seven other plays.
