Set in the notorious Rikers Island, Stephen Adly Guirgis’s high octane prison drama Jesus Hopped The A Train examines questions of faith and morality in a tale of two men put away inside the US penitentiary system. An extraordinarily brutal study of faith, redemption and despair where salvation seems to belong in another world.

Jesus Hopped The A Train is produced by Synergy Theatre Project, a company dedicated towards the rehabilitation of prisoners. Established in 2000, it works with prisoners and ex-prisoners, producing shows both in theatres and within prisons, delivering education projects for young people and new writing initiatives to develop playwrights in prison.
