Ibsen’s 1881 play Ghosts centres on Mrs Alving, who is preparing to dedicate an orphanage to the memory of her late husband. But this is not done out of respect for her dearly departed; rather, Mrs Alving hopes she will never again have to speak of the man who, though a respected member of their community, was actually an immoral philanderer. To make matters worse, her son, recently returned from Paris, is dying from syphilis and has his heart set on a bride he cannot have.

Ghosts stars Lesley Sharp as Mrs Alving. Sharp was last seen on the London stage in Harper Regan at the National Theatre, though before joining Ghosts she will play Mari in the revival of The Rise And Fall Of Little Voice at the Vaudeville theatre.

Iain Glen stars alongside Sharp in Ghosts, playing the role of Pastor Manders as well as directing the production. Glen’s numerous West End performances have come in productions including Hedda Gabler, A Streetcar Named Desire, The Blue Room, Martin Guerre and The Crucible. He last starred with Sharp in the BBC adaptation of The Diary Of Anne Frank.
