About the café: 266 square feet on London’s famous Bermondsey Street in 2014 was all it took to conceive WatchHouse and lay the foundations of everything that was to come. Historically a 19th century shelter for watchmen guarding the graveyard of St Mary Magdalen’s Church, the tiny building became WatchHouse’s namesake and the original home of their Modern Coffee ambition.
Modern Coffee represents a holistic approach to making the local café experience exceptional: industry-leading coffee, high-quality, home-made food and excellent service, in carefully considered and beautifully designed spaces. It encapsulates the attention to detail, creativity, provenance and quality that WatchHouse strives to bring to their community both in their Houses and online.
Since 2014 WatchHouse have branched out from their humble Bermondsey Street beginning and today they have eight beautiful and bespoke locations across Central London including their in-house Roastery. WatchHouse harbours big ambitions to change the way multi-site local cafés are perceived and as they look to the future, their passion remains to build on what they started in 2014 and always be the local hero of choice.
